chiaroscuro

yesterday i was cleaning off my bookshelf and stumbled across a caravaggio book from a show in london several years ago.
caravaggio was instrumental in developing the chiaroscuro style.
chiaroscuro is the contrast between light and dark. for example, dark subjects are lit by one light source. i've always liked the dramatic visual qualities of its effect.
i decided to do a little study tonight...
